Arsi Mountains National Park is situated starting in South East of the country at a distance of 117km from Dhera-Dilfekar to Honkolo 256 kms. The park has four blocks namely; Dhera-Fekar, Chilaalo-Galama, Kaka and Hinkolo. The Arsi plateaus are favored with high rainfall, water catchments, cool weather, as well as fertile soil to which the Arsi’s intensive agricultural cultivations are attributed.

The mountains are covered by natural vegetation that shelter precious mammals and birds. The scenic beauty and others make the plateau a significant tourist destination for trekking, sightseeing, and safari hunting. Having controlled hunting areas, Arsi is contributing a big share in wildlife resource utilization in Oromia.

Five of the Oromia's designated controlled hunting areas are found  in Arsi. These are Arbagugu, Kaka, Galama-Boroluku, Munessa-Kuke and Aluto. Some of the major game animals in these areas are Mountain Nyala, Klipspringer and Menilik’s Bushbuck.

Dhera-Dilfaqar, situated at a distance of 55 km from Asala and 25km from Adama towns adjacent to Dhera town. is one of the wildlife spots inhabited by significant number of greater and lesser Kudu. Over 20 mammal species and 100 bird species made the area an ideal site for a park. Covering 25km2 areas, Some tourist visitation sites are designated as parks-namely, Chilalo–Galama and Maraaro-Kaka where mammals and birds are frequently visited.
